Tell us who you are outside of the Simpson Cup. How would you describe yourself? I live in Dorset with my family. I run an architecture practice and play golf at Sherborne GC. I am a boxing coach and a school governor. I was the first above-knee amputee to complete the Devises to Westminster Kayak Marathon in 2010. 2. Would you be willing to share with us your experiences in the military, and also the events that led to your injury? I served for almost 9 years and did an Operational Tour of Northern Ireland where I did my motorbike test. I was travelling from Wyke Bridging Camp to Aldershot when I crashed my bike resulting in the loss of my leg and ultimately the end of my army career. 3. How did your involvement with the On Course Foundation begin? I met John Simpson at a BLESMA golf day and he told me of his intentions. I quickly came on board and through the tuition and opportunities afforded to me by the OCF, golf has changed my life. 4. Had you played golf before the On Course Foundation, and the Simpson Cup? Tell us what the game of golf means to you, and how it has helped with your recovery? Golf has changed my life, the ability to compete against able-bodied people has given me a part of my life back. I am extremely grateful to John Simpson and the OCF for the support given to me. 5. Tell us about your best moment in the Simpson Cup so far? So many great memories which can’t be condensed to one moment so I will list a few: Birdieing the 17th at TPC Sawgrass; being selected to play in the 2016 SC, as I had missed out on the previous two; winning my match with Greig Phillips at Oak Hill GC. 6. Lastly, tell us what it means to you to be leading your team out in the Simpson Cup this year? I am immensely proud to have been selected to lead the GB team, and the opportunity for my children to come and watch me compete. I am looking forward to a tough competition.
